DFM - Project Lost Files: Background Sketches

For the newest project in Design for Media we were assigned to different voted on projects. I am part of Emma Pennington's team and was assigned the part of a background artist. The story is about a young girl who loses track of her files on a school computer and then chases after a troll through the internet that stole them.

I came up with the idea to turn websites into actual environments as you can see below.

  1. I love the idea of personifying, if you will, different internet social media sites as places that could exist in the physical world. I think that will definitely add an interesting dimension to the main storyline -- have you thought about colors yet/how you might incorporate the color scheme of each site into the enviroments? Would you even want to be that literal, or maybe try to make the original influence more subtle?

  2. Taking the concept a step further from personifying the idea to the setting is perfect!! This is going to be a lot of fun to work on :)

  3. I don't think you understand how much I love your take on the internet, because it's so accurate. Let's not forget about Tumblr and Pintrest. (Which I suggest filling with cooking mommas)

  4. I still love this idea to pieces, and I'll try to incorporate bits of it into our story more. You have a fantastic sense of space, which I've already told you, which I think will do nothing but help add to our project and give it a sense of life no matter how our final characters look.

  5. Your concept of personifying space is really creative! It's a great way to experiment with settings and a give a sense of time passing during the film. I'm really fond of your set design for Facebook, too.
